NOTE: Please read README.TXT for normal install and support issues. Flo++ 3.158 Release Notes ===========+============= Only minor changes took place between V3.157 and 3.158. We therefor list the release notes as for V3.157 again. 1. Moving to Version 3.157 ========================== Moving to V3.157 should be smooth - the only critical issues are a few command changes listed in Section 3 below. Other changes relate to enhancements of the graphical user interface and new modelling capabilities from which the most important is radiation. 1.2 Discrete Transfer Radiation Model (DTRM) 1.3 Gray scale option for post processing 1.2 Graph function representing residuals on the solver dialog is not active. 2. Bug fixes ============ 3. Manual and command updates and changes ========================================= 3.1 SSDEF See changes in parameters. 3.2 MOMENTUM: The MOMENTUM command is used to globally switch on or off the momentum equations. 3.3 PRESSURE: The PRESSURE command is used to globally switch on or off the pressure correction equations. 3.4 MCTRL: Matrix solution control - Settings for solving, sweeps, relaxations, etc. for all the equations. 3.5 HEAT: Global switch for heat transfer - replaces the previous ENERGY command. 3.6 TURMATERIAL: Used for switching on or off turbulence per material. 3.7 RADMATERIAL: Used for switching on or off radiation per material. 3.8 ABSORPTIVITY: Property for gas when gaseous radiation is considered. 3.9 TURBULENCE: The TURBULENCE command is now used only as a global switch. Turbulence can be switched on or off in individual fluid materials using the command TURMATERIAL. 3.10 ESFIND: Parameter changes in the ESFIND command. This allows different material cell blocks to be coupled in an arbitrary way. 3.11 ACCELERATION: Acceleration is now switched on or off per material. 4. Unfinished sections ====================== Radiation documentation not complete 5. Developments scheduled for the next release ============================================== 5.1 Vector type output for graphics; currently enhanced meta file format (emf) is considered - when the image is stretched in a word processing application no loss of resolution occurs. 5.4 Option to track particles in an unsteady fashion. 5.5 Option to write particle results in ascii format. 5.6 Graphical user interface for combustion using the SCRS combustion model. 6. Next Release =============== To be anounced. ================================================================================================== VERSION 3.08: ------------- 1. Moving to Version 3.08 ========================= There are two issues which need to be addressed when start using V3.08. 1.1 Old project files may not open depending some saved settings regarding the workstate: If this happens then open the project file (.fpr) with Notepad and replace all occurences of '_v1_1' with '_v1_2' and retry opening the project. If this does not fix the problem please send the problematic project file to us. You may need to recreate your project. In order not to loose any datafiles make a copy of the old project directory before creating the new project with the same name. Then copy over your datafiles for the copied old project directory. 1.2 Some commands have changed. Please see Section 3 below. 2. Bug fixes ============ 2.1 Print and print preview of command text files are resolved. 2.2 Freezing of graphics window after copying to the clipboard resolved. 2.3 The vertex projection procedure (VPROJECT) was updated to accomodate a case where it failed. 2.4 Restart procedure when using sliding meshes. 2.5 Memory problem in conjunction with sliding surfaces was resolved. 3. Manual and command updates and changes ========================================= 3.1 The command WGRAPH added (for the automatic saving of images) 3.2 BVIEW - see new extended options 3.3 VOLUME- see new extended options 3.4 SC - See new usage 3.5 SCSP - New command for defining scalar solver parameters. 3.6 MRELAX - New command to override temperature relaxation in different materials. 4. Known problems ================= 4.1 Printing the contents of the graphics window directly to some printers is still a problem. For instance when selecting an HP Deskjet with the Draft mode option causes the operating system to crash. However when selecting any other option such as High or Normal mode the printing completes successfully. You may however experience other problems not related to this one using the HP printer. WORK-AROUND: Copy the contents of the graphics window to the clipboard and then paste it in a word prosessor such as Microsoft Word. Then print the image from there. 4.2 Graph function representing residuals on the solver dialog is not active. 5. Developments scheduled for the next release ============================================== 5.1 Vector type output for graphics; currently enhanced meta file format (emf) is considered - when the image is stretched in a word processing application no loss of resolution occurs. 5.2 Discrete Transfer Radiation Model (DTRM) 5.3 Gray scale option for post processing 5.4 Option to track particles in an unsteady fashion. 5.5 Option to write particle results in ascii format. 5.6 Graphical user interface for combustion using the SCRS combustion model. 6. Next Release =============== V3.09 end of Aug 2003. ================================================================================================== VERSION 3.07: ------------- 1. Known problems ================= 1.1 Displaying vertex, cell and boundary cell numbers is still a problem. A work-around is to use the number button on the GUI. Once switched on, numbers will appear in the left bottom corner of the graphics window. Do a bit of interaction with the mouse on the graphics window and the numbers will appear in their correct positions. It sometimes help to switch off and back on the numbers using the button on the GUI. 2. Solver switches ================== 2.1 Switch 39: Previous implementation was to use a better but elaborate method of calculating volumes of cells on either side of a sliding surface when arbitrary coupling was used on the sliding surface. The method is now permanently implemented so that switch 39 will have no effect anymore. Switch 39 is therefor not used anymore. 2.2 Switch 40: Switch 40 was used to over-ride a bug - when wall boundaries was used with user-specified wall velocities, then in the case of a moving grid, those user velocities were set to zero. The bug is fixed in the current version. Switch 40 is therefor not used anymore. 3. Lock Code ============ 3.1 The previous lock code was designed to work only to 31 Dec 2002. A new lock code routine is implemented and compiled in a separate library FPP9.lib. ================================================================================================== VERSION 3.05: ------------- 1. Bug fixes for V3.05 ====================== 1.1 Colour coded editor in PFLO was updated to address problems connected to multiline comments. 1.2 Bug connected to GUI operation regarding opening a new project. 2. Command changes for V3.05 ============================ 2.1 SSDEF: Parameter dy changed in its meaning - when adjustable time step is used, dy is interpreted as revolutions per minute [rpm] instead of radians per second [rad/s] when cylindrical systems is used. 2.2 BGDEF # WALL: The first parameter on the second line is now the option NOSLIP/SLIP wall 3. Help file (FloHelp.chm) ========================== 3.1 The online help file FloHelp.chm was updated. Thank you for using Flo++! The Softflo Team http://www.softflo.com
